Band students with medical and dietary requirements are well taken care of during the Band Camp weekend by a dedicated First Aid/Medical team and Dietary Supervisor.
Dietary Requirements
Students with dietary requirements or allergies will need to provide details in the Band Camp Permission and Medical Forms. Any questions or concerns can be addressed to medical-bandcamp@tps-pandc.org.au.
All students are given a coloured wristband on Saturday morning that they wear for the entire weekend. This indicates their dietary requirements (including those with no specific needs). The Medical team also have a list of all requirements that is checked every time food is served.
Allergies or Medical Conditions
All allergies or medical conditions that may require treatment over the camp need to be noted on the Band Camp Permission and Medical Forms. Depending on the allergy or condition, you may receive a follow up email from the First Aid team. Please can you ensure you provide all required information to the team.
Medical Requirements
Any medication required on the weekend must be advised to the Medical team in advance, and then provided to the team on Saturday morning during check-in. Please note no medications can be left in children's bags. This is for the safety of everyone attending Band Camp.
Medication should be placed in a clear snap-lock bag with the child’s name and clear instructions either written on the bag or placed in the bag as to how and when the medication is taken.
If parents would like to administer medication, they should select a roster timeslot to administer the medication.
Epi-pens
Children with Epi-pens which are already kept at school, do not need to provide another one, as their school pens will be collected, taken to Camp and returned to school for Monday morning.
Contacts
Please ensure appropriate paperwork is provided in advance to medical-bandcamp@tps-pandc.org.au.
Weekend First Aid / Medical Team
Over the weekend, we have two designated First Aid / Medical volunteers at all times, including the overnight shift.
In the event your child gets sick over the weekend, you will receive a phone call from our Medical team. We do use a combination of our judgement and what the child wants! For example, a small blister with a Bandaid will probably not generate a phone call, but a child vomitting definitely will. We deal with all of these on a case by case basis, but in some cases you will be asked to come and collect your child. Please be aware that this phone call could come at any time, and we use the Emergency Contact details provided on your forms to reach you.
